Founded in 2021, Barracuda Recruitment is the brain child of our Managing Director, Keith O’Donovan with our office based in the heart of Limerick City’s financial district. Having worked in the Accounting & Finance space since finishing a Bachelor of Business Studies at Waterford Institute of Technology in 2007 as both as an Accountant and a specialised Leading A & F Regional Recruitment Consultant, he felt there was a requirement and a niche in the market for a specialist Accounting & Finance boutique type agency in Limerick to serve the Mid-West, South and the Regions as a whole. His experience of being on both sides of the table, as a Candidate on the job market and also, working with a former employer charged with the interviewing and hiring of staff, has provided a valuable insight into the many pitfalls of our agency competitors. Prior to Keith’s experience in the Recruitment market, he was a Senior Accountant and Business Advisor with 12 years’ work experience in 2 well-established Accountancy practices in Limerick. He trained in a Top 10 Practice under the guidance of the then, ACCA President of Ireland in the Insolvency/Corporate Finance Sector in recessionary times. After which, he joined one of the leading Firms of Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors in the Mid-West. This very Practice is now part of the Xeinadin Group of Companies which has over 100 successful Accountancy and Business Advisory Firms located across the UK and Ireland. In December 2020, he was accepted as a Fellow of the ACCA as he has continually committed to date to upholding the values and ethical behaviours of the Profession. After 12 years working in Practice, Keith found himself at a crossroads in his career. At which point, he engaged the services of a Careers Coach in order to seek the best possible advice and guidance for his future career. Having worked hard to gain his ACCA accreditation like all trainees and building up an extensive skillset and network throughout the island of Ireland over his career to that point, he was looking for a change in direction whilst retaining everything he had learned to date. He found his calling in Recruitment and more specifically, with specialisation in the Accounting & Finance Sector. Keith is a firm believer that it is never too late in life either to take a different direction in your existing role or even, a new career direction altogether – “Follow your Dreams.. They’re worth the chase..” In a society where the topic of Mental Health Awareness is so prominent, we at Barracuda Recruitment are firm believers and would encourage anyone who is generally unhappy in what they are doing in their career, to take that leap of faith and pursue finding that dream job that you have always wanted.
